Tracks of the week April 15 2014

Tax day in Yankeeland. My condolences, guys. Try to remember today’s pain next time you go in to vote, eh?

Anyway, here’s a few of the songs that have been banging around my brain and my iPod this week…

Ramones: “I Wanna Be Sedated”:

New York Dolls: “Bad Girl”:

Johnny Thunders with the big hair to end all big hair!

BTW, if you’re on Facebook, give the New York Dolls page a like. Sylvain Sylvain posts a shitload of links on the weekend as his “rampage of songs” and there’s a ton of gems, pretty cool.

Johnny Thunders: “MIA”:

Izzy Stradlin & the Ju Ju Hounds: “Pills”:

Spotted this last week but figured I’d hold off posting it. Covering the Bo Diddley (via the New York Dolls) classic, and Rick Richards takes the vocal duties.

Smack: “I Wanna Be Your Dog”:

Speaking of covers, digging this one too.

AC/DC: “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap”:

Rumor today has it they’ve retired the band. Dunno if it’s true or not, but there ya go.

Stiv Bators: “King of the Brats”:

Hanoi Rocks: “Beer and a Cigarette”:

Combichrist: “We Were Made to Love You”:

New Combichrist, live last week in NYC. Takes a while to really get into it.

Not the greatest sound, but hey, I like video proof that even “industrial” bands can play actual… whatchamacallits… musical instruments if they feel like it. It don’t have to be MacBook karaoke [though I’m sure there were many samples being triggered in addition to the live playing].
