Back on air tonight

Well, after a month off the air, I return to CiTR Radio tonight for the Vampire’s Ball, midnight to 4am Pacific.

Why was I off for so long? Well, I got my pal Abraham to fill in for me on December 14th so I could play hooky and go see Left Spine Down play at the ANZA club with Stiff Valentine [and also Unit:187, I think it was their first show in years but I could be wrong on that].

Then the next week, December 21, I headed in with the show all programmed and ready to go, but CiTR is in UBC’s Student Union Building and they tend to go with much-reduced building access hours around Christmas. I needed to be there by 10 to be let in by the DJ before me [there isn’t a DJ directly before the Vampire’s Ball, but Rhett is in with his show The Bassment from 9-10:30pm], but unfortunately he didn’t make it in to the building either, which had been locked down by 9pm, so that was that.

Last week the building was locked down by 5pm, and I could tell by our live stream there wasn’t going to be access again.

So, tonight I’ll be playing the show I programmed for December 21.

Side note: if you want to listen you have to listen live this week, apparently our podcast server’s motherboard melted down over Christmas and it’s just being fixed now after the part finally came. Hopefully next week’s show will be podcast again but tonight it’s all live.

So: 101.9 FM if you’re in the Vancouver area, or listen live on CiTR’s website here.
